Curious Fox amoungst the foxgloves
Many folklorists believe "foxglove" is actually a corruption of the phrase "Folks-glove."
In the medieval period, "The Good Folk" was a common euphemism for fairies (used because people were often afraid to say the word "fairy" and attract their unpredictable attention). Therefore, these were the "Glove of the Good Folks." Over centuries of oral storytelling, "Folks" likely morphed into "Fox."
